A French native, who has nearly 20 years' experience in upmarket hotels and resorts across the globe, takes up his GM role with AVANI this month. He will guide the teams in the resort's first lead up to high season and beyond; AVANI Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa having only opened on the western coast of Mahé in February 2015.

Raffles Praslin Seychelles Resort & Spa has welcomed an interim General Manager to the resort - Mr. Ian Robinson.

Mr. Robinson joins the team from Fairmont Mayakoba, where he was General Manager and Regional VP for 8 years. Prior to that, he was Regional VP and General Manager of the Fairmont Turnberry Isle resort in Aventura, Florida, and has a wealth of experience in luxury resorts, having worked in Venezuela, Mexico, Turks & Caicos and Jamaica, to name a few.

Green Islands Foundation completes eradication of invasive Myna birds on Denis Private Island


The Common Myna, also known as Indian Myna, is one of the world’s most invasive birds, causing problems wherever it has been introduced. Myna birds are not native to Seychelles, but since they were introduced here from Mauritius in the 19th century, they have spread to many of the islands. Because their diet includes the eggs and chicks of other birds they pose a threat to endemic birds in Seychelles.

Hotel Updates: Valmer Resort

Valmer Resort: Construction of Gym and Spa is Complete


Valmer Resort on Mahé Island has announced that the construction of the gym and spa is now complete. There are light works still being carried out at present, such as electrical work and putting up the balustrades. 

The gym will be operational as from beginning of August, and the resort will advise accordingly once it is launched. As for the spa, it will be operational in September as the resort is finalizing/ recruiting the spa therapists.

The hotel will be closed as from 31st May16 up to 08th July 2016 and will re-open on 09th July 2016.  To be noted that all bookings should check-out on the 31st May 2016.

Airline Updates: Etihad Airways and Air Seychelles

Etihad Airways and Air Seychelles Amend Schedules to bring Abu Dhabi - Seychelles Service to Double Daily


Etihad Airways has increased its service between Abu Dhabi and Seychelles from four flights per week to daily to give guests more choice and greater flexibility when travelling to and from Seychelles. Starting on 1 July 2015, the total number of return flights operated by Etihad Airways and Air Seychelles between Abu Dhabi and Seychelles increased to 14 per week.
