When dreaming about their big day, it wasn’t the thought of a grand ballroom or stately home that made Jason and Andrea’s hearts flutter.

For the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Vachon, it was the allure of white sand, tropical palm trees and no one to please but themselves that made the decision to get married at the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles an easy one.

The Bride and Groom: The couple hadn’t always planned to elope. They had already put down a deposit on a venue in Canada by the time they decided to cancel, much to the disappointment of friends and family. After months of hectic wedding planning and the stress of choosing flowers, arranging table plans and planning receptions, the dream of tropical sands and a Four Seasons wedding specialist to take care of their every detail became all too tempting.

“As we were going through the process of planning a wedding, we quickly realised we didn’t enjoy any part of it,” laughs Andrea. “We found ourselves sitting down to plan the wedding, but instead of choosing colours, we’d end up researching honeymoon destinations!”

Planning From Afar: “The whole process was really stress-free and only took a few e-mails to decide on things such as the photographer, flowers and the time of day we wanted to get married”, explained Andrea. “Closer to our departure we had a 40-minute call with our wedding specialist to iron out the final details, but it was so simple that it really left us free to be excited at the prospect that we would soon be getting married in an exotic location of our dreams.”

The Scene: The ceremony itself took place on a tropical afternoon, in a secluded corner of Petite Anse beach. Jason waited for Andrea with his feet bare in the sand, stood before a handmade palm leaf arch decorated with local frangipani flowers.

“The location was perfect,” says Andrea, “because it was in a beautifully secluded area. The ceremony was short and sweet, at our request, followed by a champagne toast, cake cutting and enough time for photos.”

The Magical Moment: A world away from the ‘big day’ stresses they could have faced at their long-forgotten, large ceremony back at home, Jason remembers, “On our wedding day, we enjoyed breakfast together and then headed down to the beach. We relaxed and swam in the ocean until it was time to get ready.”

The Bride Wore: In keeping with tradition, the couple did not want to see each other before the ceremony itself, so Jason got ready in their villa whilst Andrea spent her final few hours as an unmarried woman getting ready in the Resort’s hilltop Spa. “I had my hair styled and did my own makeup,” Andrea explains. “I wore a light dress to stay cool in the Seychelles heat, a silver and pearl hair comb from Davie and Chiyo, a bracelet which was a gift from my Mum, and although I had heels, the actual ceremony would be barefoot on the beach.”

On The Menu: To end the special day, the couple enjoyed a romantic dinner in the Resort’s old Creole ruin, Foumba. The ancient brick walls and intricate roots ooze history and created an intimate atmosphere in which they enjoyed their first meal together as husband and wife. “Only the four walls remained, overtaken by vegetation and decorated with flowers, twinkling candles and fairy lights overhead,” describes Jason. “The food was absolutely delicious and it was one of the most romantic dinners we’ve ever had together. The whole day was more than we ever dreamed of!”
