Hotel Updates:Chalets d' Anse Forbans

Chalets d' Anse Forbans Beach Cleanup

The Ocean Project, Anse Forbans Community Conservation Programme, Doubletree Hilton Allamanda  and Chalets d Anse Forbans invited their local community and a wider network of clubs and students to get together to make a difference in their very first organized Beach Clean-up in their village of Anse Forbans.

Anse Forbans is located on the South-Eastern tip of Mahe and is known as a farming and fishing community. The community enjoy a beach stretch of approximately 2km that is sheltered with a coral reef. The local organizers wanted to educate the community and wider community on the importance of litter collection and proper disposal of litter.

An amazing group joined with even babies accompanying their parents, A Level students from the International School of Seychelles, Wildlife club from the International School of Seychelles, Marine Conservation Society of Seychelles employees, volunteers as well as WiseOceans joined in and collected debris along the beach.

The event was a great success and saw an assortment of debris collected from the expected plastic bottles, cans, shoes to even some offcuts of roof tiles. Such an unpopulated beach is still effected showing the wider concern of the International Community on the effects of pollution on communities, their livelihoods and food source.

All the sponsors greatly encourage others to join together and get their community together and make a difference. You will be amazed how satisfying the experience is when you are done and see what is collected.
