Hotel Updates: Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare

Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare Celebrates EarthHour 2018

On Saturday 24 March, at 20:30, Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare joined a global community of eco-conscious individuals, businesses and communities in observing the 2018 installment of EarthHour. Lights in the luxury hotel’s central building were switched off and switched out for candlelight, as guests’ attention was drawn to the main beach where a commemorative pyre lit up the night.

EarthHour is a global environmental awareness movement pioneered by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Each year on 24 March, at 20:30 local time, participants from around the world are encouraged to take positive steps and actions towards preserving the planet. Traditional observations include switching of all lights and unnecessary electrical appliances for one hour. Guests of the hotel were encouraged to participate in their own capacities and urged to turn off all lights and appliances in their rooms.

“Sustainability and environmental awareness are at the heart of our business model,” said general manager, Masami Egami, “so it was only natural that we would participate in EarthHour 2018. We recognise that these values are important to our guests as well, and this was a wonderful occasion to celebrate this movement with them.”
