Seychelles hosts another successful Carnaval
In its fourth edition, this year's Carnaval International de Victoria was a huge success, bringing tourists, participants and media from across the globe and putting the world's attention on the beautiful Seychelles Archipelago.
151 foreign journalists were on hand to witness weekends festivities where 26 international delegations joined Seychelles in celebrating this year's Carnaval.
The festivities kicked off on Friday (26.04.14) with the official opening ceremony at the Stad Popiler stadium in the heart of Victoria, Seychelles' quaint capital 'city.'
Featuring soul-stirring chants of the Sami, a tribe from the Arctic Circle, the ebullient Cajun rhythms of Lisa Haley and the Zydecats and the more orthodox sounds of performers like Reunion Island’s Benjam and Seychelles’ very own John Vital, among others, the ceremony was a celebration of global unity adorned with all the jubilation of the cultures represented.
