Spanish Celebrity Chef Spends Time on Denis Island
Madrid-born chef Alberto Chicote, is not just famed for his
appearance on the Spanish language version of Kitchen Nightmares, but his
Asian-Mediterranean fusion cuisine has earned him a name beyond the Spanish
capital where his restaurant, Yakitoro, is located.
This interesting restaurant concept sees a menu that is inspired by traditional Japanese yakitori (brochettes), cooked on grills in-view of customers. But Chicote, in his Madrid restaurant, takes the Japanese custom and combines it with traditional Spanish culinary concepts like patatas bravas and cocido madrileño and, essentially, grills them on a stick.
Chef Chicote recently spent a relaxing few days on Denis
Private Island in the Seychelles. This unique island destination combines a secluded island getaway with a very interesting concept -
sustainable cuisine!
Here, the resort grows all its own fruits, vegetables, herbs
and spices, as well as raising its own beef, pork, poultry, duck, rabbit and
quail. The dairy not only provides fresh milk daily, but a range or organic
cheeses are also produced and, of course, the day’s catch ensures that only the
freshest, line caught fish is prepared for their guests.
Sounds like the perfect place for any chef to escape to, doesn’t it? Well throw in the weekly Sushi buffet and you can see why this was the perfect fit for Chef Chicote.
According to www.foodsfromspain.com, “happiness” is what Alberto Chicote seeks in his cuisine. "I want my customers to be happy, to leave the restaurant feeling contented."
Well we know that Chef Chicote found happiness on Denis
Private Island, and left the beautiful Seychelles feeling as content as he
hopes his customers to be, we look forward to welcoming him back soon.
