Industry News: Air Seychelles / Seychelles International Airport

Seychelles International Airport to provide fast track for First & Business Class Travellers effective 1st January 2017

The Minister for tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine, Alain St.Ange and Minister for Internal Affairs, Mitcy Larue jointly chaired a meeting at the Seychelles International Airport on Friday16th December to discuss implementation of fast track facilities for all First and Business Class travellers arriving and departing Seychelles.

The meeting was attended by Garry Albert (PS for Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine), Anne Lafortune (PS for Tourism), Myriam Telemaque (PS for Immigration), Gilbert Faure (CEO SCAA), Simon Julienne (Principal Public Health Officer) from Ministry of Health, Michel Marie, the Special Advisor from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Patrick Hoareau (GM Airport Management) from SCAA.

All members present agreed on the necessity to improve the First Class and Business passengers' experience even more than it is today when they enter and depart the islands through the Seychelles International Airport.  The improvements will include dedicated Immigration desks at arrival and departure and a dedicated passenger security screening on departure.  In order to facilitate these, the SCAA will create a dedicated line at the existing Immigration departure hall where First & Business Class passengers will enter a separate door to Economy class passengers.

Passengers will also experience fast track on arrival where dedicated Immigration and Health Officers' desks will be made available.  Air Seychelles as Handling Agent will be asked to work with the new measures to ensure that luggage of First & Business Class travellers are removed first from the aircraft followed by Economy Class passengers.

This project is being driven by the Ministry for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine  to improve passenger experience at the airport.  Minister St.Ange said that "we are not reinventing the wheel, these practices are being implemented world wide; airport operators and airlines are very familiar with these and it is something the trade have been asking for a long time.  In doing this we are putting Seychelles at par with best practices as a Tourist destination.  The five star service experience must begin and end at the airport."

CEO SCAA, Mr. Gilbert Faure has committed that the airport will be ready to offer this added service as from the 1st of January 2017.
