Hotel Updates: Chalets d’ Anse Forbans

Chalets d’ Anse Forbans Looks to the Future with Sustainability Projects

Chalets d’ Anse Forbans on Mahé Island, Seychelles, has announced that they are "investing in a greener future with photo voltaic (solar) panels" being installed across the self-catering establishment.

Known for their proactive conservation efforts, Chalets d’ Anse Forbans is hoping to lead by example and to encourage "other small Seychellois run businesses to invest in a greener environment with the commissioning of their PV Panels.

The property already has existing solar panels, LED lightening and day night switches to name a few of their efforts in making a difference to the environment, in addition to the newly installed PV panels. The PV Panels convert the sun energy into power, an inverter converts the solar power into electricity, which is then disbursed to all the chalets of the establishment. In essence, Chalets d Anse Forbans is now producing their own greener renewable energy from the sun for its guests to enjoy.

Mr Jean-Pierre Laporte of Chalets d Anse Forbans headed the project along with Richard Hoareau of Energy Solutions Seychelles. Mr Jean-Pierre Laporte commented “It is a project that we have rated with highest importance in our establishment, it shows our guests how committed we are to our environment and making a difference.”

Chalets d’ Anse Forbans is also an active supporter of the newly formed NGO called Anse Forbans Community Conservation Programme (AFCCP) whose aim is to involve the community in conservation efforts in the Anse Forbans district. AFCCP are looking into wetlands and reef restoration as well as setting up new hikes and trails in the area.
