Airline Updates: Air Seychelles

Air Seychelles to Adjust its European Route Network

Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, today announced that it will 
adjust its European route network.

As part of the adjustment, the airline will suspend its service to Düsseldorf from 10 September and reduce its Paris operation from four services to a three-per-week schedule from 12 September.

The North Mahé hotel has earned its “Recommended on HolidayCheck” status based on the feedback of users who share their experiences on the site, which boasts an estimated 25 million users per day.

Hand Luggage Regulations for Seychelles Inbound/Outbound Flights

All travellers to and from Seychelles please be informed that international flights accept hand luggage with a maximum weight of 7kg for economy and 12kg for business or first class. Kenya Airways exceptionally allows 12kg for both classes on any of their flights. Upon arrival at check-in, all guests will be asked to weigh their hand luggage.

Conservation Updates: Denis Private Island

Census reveals endangered Magpie Robins flourishing on Denis Island

One of Seychelles’ most endangered bird species is thriving on Denis Island, according to a census conducted in June.

Carried out by Rachel Bristol and Indira Gamatis in association with the Green Islands Foundation, the census placed the population of the Seychelles Magpie Robin on Denis at 76, a far cry the 20 that were originally translocated to the island in 2008.

The Acajou Beach Resort has become the latest tourism establishment to be awarded the Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label (SSTL), after it was successfully assessed and certified as a resort that is integrating sustainability practices in its business operation. The Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Maurice Loustau-Lalanne presented the Chairman of Acajou Beach Resort, Hugh Payet with the Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label certificate on Tuesday 11th July.

Please be advised that we have our confirmed dates for Anse Soleil Beachcomber Hotel & Anse Soleil Self-Catering's  annual closure for next year (2018). The establishment has announced that due to work scheduled for June 2018, both the hotel and the self-catering units will be closing from Saturday 26th May 2018 until Monday 9th July 2018. This will be last check out will be on the 26th May and first check in will be on the 9th July.

The Seychelles Tourism Board & Air Seychelles treat German travel agents to a 'spontaneous weekend' in Seychelles

As Germany maintains its position as the Seychelles' top tourism market in 2017, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) continues to work with local trade partners to boost the knowledge of German travel agents on the destination.

Air Seychelles, with organizational support from the STB and generous sponsorship from various trade partners, treated eleven travel agents from Germany to a "spontaneous" familiarization 'FAM' trip to the islands from 7th to 9th July 2017.

Prior to her promotion, D'Souza was the HR & Training Manager for Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort and DoubleTree by Seychelles – Allamanda Resort & Spa. D'Souza has 27 years of expertise in the hospitality industry and has been working for Hilton since 2006.

Seychelles wins Indian Ocean's Leading Tourist Board & Cruise Destination accolades at World Travel Awards

The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) is the Indian Ocean’s Leading Tourist Board and Seychelles the Indian Ocean’s Leading Cruise Destination in 2017.

This was revealed at the World Travel Awards’ Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2017. The event was held at Sun Aqua Vilu Reef – a five star beach resort in the neighbouring Indian Ocean island of Maldives, on Saturday 8th July.

Air Seychelles Further Boosts Connections from China with a Series of Charter Flights from Beijing 

Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, has announced a series of non-stop charter flights between Beijing and Seychelles.

The carrier will operate three return Airbus A330 services from the Chinese capital, as part of an agreement signed with a Chinese tour operator Caissa.

Capture your Creole cooking! The Seychelles Tourism Board launches Facebook photography competition

‘Best of Creole Cuisine’ is the theme of the latest Facebook photography competition launched by the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB).

Open only to citizens of Seychelles, the competition does not have any age limit. Participants are being encouraged to submit photos that depict the creativity and uniqueness of the Seychelles’ mouth-watering Creole cuisine.

STB’s Director of Digital Marketing, Mr. Vahid Jacob said the competition is aimed at boosting the organisation’s image library to support the promotion of one of the destination’s unique factor – its Creole food.

GIF Project to Re-Establish a Breeding Colony of Sooty Terns on Denis Island

When Denis Island was discovered in 1773 it hosted large seabird populations including a colony of Sooty Terns (Sterna fuscata). In the following years the birds left, due to various reasons, mainly habitat change. To re- establish a colony an area of a former coconut plantation was cleared as the Sooty Tern is a ground nesting species that requires open grassland.
