Hotel Updates: Kempinski

Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare Shares Passion for Food at President’s Village Children’s Home

Recently, children from the President’s Village Children’s Home in Port Glaud enjoyed interactive cooking-lessons and a lunch prepared for them by a team of volunteers from Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare.

A different recipe was demonstrated to captivated children in each of the kitchens at the facility’s five houses. The children were invited to participate in the preparation of each meal and to learn more about the ingredients that went into preparing the delicious dishes.

“We wanted to do something a little different and to share our passion for food with the children,” said Kempinski Head Chef Hamzeh Abu El-Foul. “The old adage goes ‘the kitchen is the heart of any home’ and we wanted to invite them into the kitchen to enjoy preparing family-style meals with our chefs. I’m not sure who enjoyed themselves more – the kids or the chefs…”

The children were shown how to make healthy and balanced meals, such as lasagne, tasty pasta dishes and a range of salads, before gathering in the main building for games and the presentation of donations in the form of toys and much-needed toiletries.

A certificate of appreciation was presented by the Seychelles’ Children’s Foundations’s PR, Project & Communications Manager, Carol Andriamaro to the team. Mrs. Andriamaro graciously thanked the team for their contribution to making another difference in the lives of the children.

“Such an open-hearted idea has been highly appreciated . We look forward to repeating this activity again next year.” A round of applause was given to the Kempinski team.

“Our company has a strong family-heritage with our origins firmly rooted in a pioneering passion for food and beverage,” said General Manager, Masami Egami, of Kempinski Hotels. “This was a wonderful opportunity to testify to some of our founding values, whilst giving back to the community that has been an integral part of our success over the past five years.”

The President’s Village Children’s Home provides a stable family environment for 40 young residents whose parents are faced with various socio-economic difficulties.
